SHE Talks: The Ovary Story - Vancouver

IWF BC is excited to launch SHE Talks: SCIENCE, HEALTH, EDUCATION, an ongoing series of conversations exploring women’s health. Our first event, The Ovary Story, takes a closer look at an often-overlooked part of women’s health.

Did you know that your ovaries play an important role far beyond reproduction? Ovarian hormones influence our health throughout our lives, including our metabolism, bones, brain and cardiovascular system. And while ovarian cancer is relatively uncommon, it is the deadliest cancer of the female reproductive system.

IWF BC member and TEDx speaker Dr. Bal Pawa, together with Dr. Lesa Dawson, will explore how ovarian hormones affect our health and the roles that lifestyle, nutrition and stress can play. They’ll also discuss ovarian cancer risk, prevention and risk reduction, including why understanding your personal risk matters.

This insightful conversation will leave participants with practical knowledge about ovarian health, genetics and lifestyle—and a better understanding of how we can be more informed advocates for our own health.
