Beyond the Bars - Free Virtual Event

At the IWF Cornerstone Conference in London earlier this year, a powerful conversation invited us to consider the lived experiences of women within the justice system—and what we might learn when we listen to those experiences directly.

It left us with a question:

What can we learn by bringing that conversation home and listening to the lived experiences of women in Canada?

Join IWF members from across Canada for a conversation with Fiona Wilson, Chief Constable of the Victoria Police Department; two EPP Canada graduates with lived experience of incarceration; and Shakeela Begum, Director, Enneagram Prison Project Canada, moderated by Gloria Macarenko.

Together, we will explore the continuum from trauma and crisis to policing, incarceration, rehabilitation and reintegration, and consider what women’s experiences can teach us about creating safer communities and supporting meaningful change.

At the heart of the conversation will be the voices of women who have lived this experience.

What might we see differently when we listen to the women themselves?
