IWF BC – The State of Salmon with Jason Hwang

June 23 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Salmon are a vital part of our west coast ecosystems, and hold a special place with the people of British Columbia. In a recent survey 86% of British Columbians show high levels of concern about declining salmon stocks. So what is going on with salmon in BC, and what can we do about declining populations?

Please join us on Thursday, June 23rd from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. to hear from Jason Hwang, Vice President with the Pacific Salmon Foundation. Jason will provide an overview of the current state of Pacific salmon from California to Alaska, and discuss in more detail the situation in BC. He will indicate how climate change is affecting conditions for salmon, and discuss what kinds of things can be done to help salmon populations recover and be sustainable into the future. He will share experiences and observations from the “front lines”, and will include a few salmon recovery success stories to show that we can make it better – if people are willing.
