COVID-19 has changed how we experience daily life, including how we work and shop. Our next virtual session will discuss how the world’s largest employer, Walmart, with a global workforce of more than 2 million associates and more than 160 million weekly customers, is approaching the constant changes taking place for both workplaces and consumers.

On Thursday, July 16, we welcomed Walmart’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Thomas Van Gilder, who shared his expertise on workplace and community wellness. From expanded sick leave policies to mandatory temperature checks and face masks, Dr. Van Gilder will duscussed how Walmart is helping their employees and customers adapt to a world that has a virus without a vaccine.

Dr. Van Gilder is a physician board-certified in internal medicine, public health, and general preventive medicine as well as an intellectual property attorney. He served as a medical epidemiologist with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for more than nine years, and holds a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His background helps him provide context that others might not see and has led him to become a key influencer in providing products and tools to support population health management.
